Managerial positions at a new manufacturing operation
GE Oil & Gas is seeking applicants for managerial positions at a new manufacturing operation in Jacksonville, according to recent online job postings by the company.
GE Oil & Gas does not currently have a plant in Jacksonville.
Those advertisements come as the Jacksonville City Council is considering an incentive package for a company code-named “Project Speed” that city officials have said will bring 500 jobs to a new manufacturing plant here.
That unidentified company invoked a provision in state law to keep its name confidential while the council determines whether it will approve $10 million in city incentives for the plant. Officials have only described it as a Fortune 500 company. GE is on the Fortune 500.
Matt Galnor, vice president of public affairs at JAX Chamber, declined comment Thursday about GE Oil & Gas.
In an online job posting for a design engineer at GE Oil and Gas, one responsibility for the job is to “support transfer of work activities in preparation of a factory relocation from Elk Grove Village, IL to Jacksonville, FL.”
The job posting says the design engineer will develop “control valve products.”
